...and 5 years for housebreaking; 15 for aggravating robbery to name a few.

Two years ago on 27 August, 2013 the body of 32-year-old Graig Bailey was discovered bound and gagged in his home in Greenhills. The house was ransacked and property was stolen from the premises.

An investigation was conducted by Warrant Officer Santie Le Roux-Laufs – part of the group of the officers who arrested three suspects in connection with the murder.

A court case soon followed and was referred for trial to the High Court in Palmridge. All three suspects had numerous charges against them.

On Friday 30 January 2015, 27-year-old Bongani Cebkhulu was sentenced to life in prison by the South Gauteng High Court in Palmridge.

The other two suspects were acquitted.

Cebekhulu was found guilty off and accordingly sentenced for:

• Murder – life imprisonment

• Housebreaking – five years imprisonment

• Aggravating robbery- 15 years imprisonment

• Attempt to defeat the ends of justice – three years imprisonment.

All charges will run concurrently and effective sentence is therefore that of life imprisonment.
