SA mourns Simba’s passing

SABC confirms funeral arrangements.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) confirmed funeral arrangements to take place this week for the late Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere.

Mhere and his companion who is unknown to the herald tragically lost their lives in a road traffic accident over the weekend. According to reports, Mhere was on his way to OR Tambo airport, when another vehicle collided with his on William Nicol Drive in Johannesburg.

Born in Zimbabwe, Mhere spent almost his entire life in Gauteng, matriculating from Rand Park High School and obtaining BCom degree from the University of Johannesburg.

Since winning the presenter search competition in 2010, Mhere has become a household name in South Africa, and his gentle, humorous and easy-going manner destined him for greater things.

Mhere was also a recent Master of Ceremonies (MC) at the most recent Caxton Awards held in 2014.

According to Doulha Domingo, SABC3 Publicity Coordinator, “The news of his untimely passing has been received with immense shock and distress by his friends, fans and colleagues and our hearts go out to his bereaved family.
