West Rand’s top pupils to be rewarded

Grand ceremony awaits the district's top matric achievers for 2014.

A grand awards ceremony awaits the top achievers for the matric class of 2014 this Thursday (29 January) night.

The event will be held at Mount Usambara in Krugersdorp and hosted by the West Rand District Municipality in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Education (Gauteng West).

Mpho Nawa, Executive Mayor of the West Rand District Municipality, also will be acknowledging the performance of the matric class of 2014.

The West Rand is said to have achieved the highest matric pass rate of 92,8 per cent, which is the highest pass rate nationally.

Panyaza Lesufi, MEC of Education in Gauteng will join the District Director of Education, the District Mayor and various mayors from local municipalities to identify and award top achievers on the West Rand.

These awards will serve as motivation to further their education.
