Several accidents on R41 leaves four in serious condition, one critical.

Randfontein Road (R41) experienced its worst traffic days since the start of the new year as three accidents occurred in one morning on Monday 26 January – at least five people also had to be rushed to Leratong Hospital.

The first of the accidents was before the Adcock and Randfontein Road intersection involving two motor vehicles of which no injuries were reported.

The second accident was just after the Adcock and Randfontein Road intersection next to Leratong Hospital involving a taxi, also with no injuries reported. The scene looked like a light bumper bash.

The third accident and by far the worst was just after Kagiso on Randfontein Road involving a car and a bakkie. The car’s entire front was smashed and the bakkie lay on it’s side meters from the car.

According to Denver Ramnarain, Founder and Executive Manager of QRS Services, “Five people were transported to hospital from the R41.”

According to Tessa Viljoen, Quick Response Services paramedic on the scene, “The passengers of the bakkie was transported by an ambulance before we got on the scene. There are said to have been five people in the bakkie and two people in the security car.”

A lot of blood was found in the vehicle and on the scene. The people in the security car were not injured and were lucky to be in such good condition.”

She continues to say “according bystanders the driver of the blue bakkie, a Ford Ranger, skipped the stop street and hit the Best Secure security car but this has not been confirmed officially.”
