Human skeleton discovered in the open

'Remains are of a young woman aged between 20 and 30' — police.

Police have made the shocking discovery of a skeleton in an open veld in Mohlakeng Extension 11.

They said the skeletal remains were those of a young female, believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, “A local shepherd discovered the totally decomposed body on Saturday while herding cattle. He immediately phoned the police.

“Investigations at the scene revealed that the skeleton was that of a young woman. The remains were taken to the government mortuary where a postmortem was done.

“An inquest docket was opened and the postmortem results will dictate whether the docket will be changed to murder.”

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Disco Thieane requested that anyone who might be able to assist him with the investigation contact him on 011 278 8100.
