R100 000 of goods stolen at funeral home

Owner speaks out after robbery.

An estimated R100 000 worth of goods is believed to have been stolen during a break-in at a funeral home situated in Park Street.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein police spokesperson, “The incident occurred two weeks ago. It is alleged that the business was locked on Saturday 3 January, but when the owner returned to it on Thursday 8 January, the sliding door was found to be tampered with. Numerous items were stolen from the premises including two computers, a generator and a lowering device.”

The owner Ellen Modise told police the break-in cost the company thousands of rands and the estimated worth of the goods stolen are over R100 000.

One of the machines taken is said not to have been used by the company at all. The owner also said the goods stolen is damaging to the operation of the business.

The owner urges other funeral homes not to buy his equipment from the people responsible. He said they only should buy from legitimate companies.
