Robbers pose as repairmen

Criminals pretend to be repairmen, then bind domestic worker and flees with goods.

Pretending to be repairmen is the clever approach criminals take nowadays.

A 46-year-old domestic worker was found bound in the home in Greenhills she was working at recently after having been told by a group of men they were repairmen.

Four suspects came to the door, saying they were there to fix something in the house. They proceeded into the house and bound the woman and started taking electrical equipment from the house. The domestic worker was not injured and managed to alert the neighbours after the suspect had fled the house.

Police are investigating the matter.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “It seems like this is the modus operandi of criminals when targeting houses in the area, but this is not new.

“Homeowners should beware of people posing as repairmen. They also should make their domestic workers aware of the situation.”
