Officer killed while on duty

Sergeant Curt Oosthuizen was killed in tragic accident at a roadblock.

A Toekomsrus resident and member of the West Rand Flying Squad was killed while on duty.

Spokesperson for the West Rand Flying Squad, Karen du Plessis told the herald‘s sister newspaper Krugersdorp news, “Sergeant Curt Oosthuizen was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on Monday while working at a routine roadblock in Honeydew.”

Oosthuizen has been a member of the flying squad since 2006.

A memorial service was held for him on Thursday at the Krugersdorp Police Station. He will be laid to rest in Toekomsrus. Funeral arrangements have not been finalised yet.
