Hats off to security team

Total of 18 arrests made out of the 19 crime incidents reported.

While residents of Randfontein were in holiday mode during the festive season, criminals were not and worked overtime to disrupt the festivities.

During this time, 19 crimes were reported by residents to a local security company and 18 arrests were made. This is a near perfect score in the fight against crime in Randfontein.

According to the director of Mopogo Security, Wiehan van der Merwe, “The guys worked hard to prevent incidents that would disrupt the festivities. They did a very good job during the festive season.”

Most of the crimes reported included house break-ins. Other crimes included purse snatching as well as suspects being in possession of stolen goods.

There was also an incident of attempted car theft tended to by the security company even though the owner was not a client of the company.

Richard van der Walt, shift manager said, “The arrests were outstanding as we were working hand-in-hand with the Randfontein Police and the community in fighting crime and making Randfontein a safer place.”
