Illegal dumping in Randfontein and Westonaria have become an increasing concern for residents.
The latest case of illegal dumping was in Westonaria in Crean Street close to the park. A vigilant resident caught a white Isuzu bakkie dumping illegally in broad daylight.
When the resident stopped to confront the three men in the bakkie about their dumping, they stated that they would come and pick up all the trash at a later stage.
According to the resident, this reply was less than rational as one would not dump rubbish and pick it up at a later stage.
The street currently has an unpleasant smell as a result of all the dumping. There is an outcry in the community for guilty parties to be fined and for the municipality to step in with regard to illegal dumping.
This is the second dump site discovered by the herald in the last month in Westonaria. The last incident was in Bekkersdal where angry resident Molatlhegi Sethepo pointed out the dangers of the dump site as children frivolously play in the rubbish.
