Dumped foetus found near railway line

Resident finds foetus next to railway tracks.

New Year’s Eve was marked by tragedy when a resident made the grisly discovery of an aborted foetus in a refuse bag next to a railway line in Homelake.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, police officers on scene described the discovery as gruesome.

It is said the foetus was spotted by a man next to the tracks in Railway Street while he was looking for bottles and tin cans to sell.

A case of abortion has been opened.

The foetus was removed from the scene and sent to a forensics laboratory for further investigation.

Investigating officer, Warrant Officer Pappas Mhlongo would appreciate any information that might assist the police. He can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
