Blackout risk as two Eskom generators trip

Risk of power cuts high following Wednesday's trip.

The two Eskom generators that tripped early on Wednesday could spell disaster for residents and possibly lead to blackouts.

According to Khulu Phasiwe, Eskom spokesperson, “Engineers have been working hard at restoring the generators.

“One of them has been restored successfully, which means we are likely to prevent load shedding today (Wednesday); but we are not out of the woods yet as the other generator still needs to be restored. We are doing what we can to keep the lights on.”

He said the overall risk of load shedding is still high as a result of the incident and urged the public to use electricity sparingly to try to prevent load shedding.
