Police warn partygoers

Zero tolerance towards motorists driving under the influence of liquor.

Station Commander of the Randfontein Police, Col M. Smith issued a warning to partygoers attend New Year’s Eve parties.

While it is common knowledge that residents of Randfontein take to the streets and have a good time during this period, in fact police are equally happy about the events, but urge residents to follow the following cautionary steps to ensure a peaceful and happy transition to 2015.

The law regarding fireworks states:

No person shall operate a public display of fireworks on any premises without the written permission of the Chief Inspector of Explosives. Such permission shall stipulate the conditions to be compiled with and non-compliance with any of these conditions shall constitute an offence under this regulation.

Driving under the influence of liquor/substance:

The Randfontein Police have adopted a zero tolerance towards unruly drivers who drive under the influence of liquor or any other mind altering substance.

“The Randfontein SAPS and the Randfontein Public Safety Officials will be out in full force to apprehend and prosecute any person who is driving under the influence,” says Randfontein Police Spokesperson Captain Apple Ernst.
