Toekomsrus teachers honoured

'We are proud of their contributions. They are very special teachers in our community.'

The Toekomsrus Men’s Forum was formed three years ago with the aim to create more visibility in the community.

The group of men meets Tuesday evenings where they engage and address issues concerning men and their place in their homes and community. The forum hosts many different events in the community and planning future events where they will be partnering with other NPOs in the community.

“We have taken hands with Parents Against Drug Abuse (Pada) and Women Against Women Abuse (Wawa) and hope to make a difference in the community with these initiatives we plan on launching soon,” said Gerald Samson, one of the forum members.

Their latest event, led by Clement Daniels was a huge success. The aim was to honour and recognise the retired and ex-teachers of the Toekomsrus community who have made a difference in the lives of so many children and adults.

Those honoured on the day was P Mecuur, M September, J Diederich, A Phillips, K Flank, J Naaidoo, R Appels (still principal of Dickydoy Créche), M Pieterse, Larry Steyn and Owen Steyn.

“We are very proud of their contributions. It was a great honour for us to recognise these very special people,” Gerald said.
