Husband shot dead, wife attacked at home

A house robbery in Pelzvale left one man dead and a woman critically injured.

A 39-year-old man was allegedly shot and killed and his wife brutally attacked during a house robbery in Pelzvale, Randfontein on Friday.

According to investigating officer, Santie Le Roux it is alleged that the victim and his 38-year-old wife was at home at around 6pm when they heard the dogs barking. The husband then went out to investigate.

The victim’s wife told police she then heard a loud noise believed to have been a gunshot. This will be verified after the post mortem on his body.

The wife also told police three suspects then entered the house and brutally assaulted her.

According to Warrant Officer Le Roux the attack was so severe that she only regained consciousness for a short while the next day, in which time she managed to alert neighbours of what happened.

She was rushed to a local Hospital where she was treated for severe head and facial injuries.

The suspects ransacked the house and made off with various household items.
