Jaun Boucher’s show raises the roof

One-night performance from Afrikaans singer sees locals partying up a storm.

On the evening of Wednesday 3 December Juan Boucher paid Randfontein a visit to perform live at Bedrock Pub and Grill.

The venue was filled to capacity – everyone with a drink in hand and cheering. People from the greater Randfontein and other areas waited in anticipation for Boucher’s performance.

He was met by cheers from the crowd the moment he stepped onto the stage. The first half of his performance was nothing compared to the second.

When Boucher took a break for a picture session, women formed a line resembling one in a supermarket at the end of the month. He posed with them and received numerous hugs.

When he walked back on stage the crowd roared with applause. Men and women alike took to the area in front of the stage to dance. Children were not excluded from the excitement and they bounced and twirled around in the crowd. Some were on their father’s arms in a cute attempt at sokkie.

Cameras shuttered and flashed so much that one would think the police was doing a raid. In the process, Boucher must have lost his sense of sight but he continued, swinging the mic stand back and forth.

At one point he walked among the crowd and was met by a loud response from the women.

“We are so glad that we could get him to perform here. The night is such a great success,” owner Marie Fullard said.
