Randfontein Art Association up and running
Network of artists can now share information.
The Randfontein Art Association is up and running.
On Monday 1 December, Randfontein artists got together to discuss establishing a formal art association. The association is there to establish a network of artists, to share information and to create opportunities for exhibitors.
They aim with their mandate to have creative events as well as workshops on art techniques, marketing, art history and theory in order to inspire and motivate artists.
In the meeting, the agenda was discussed for 2015.
The year will be divided into four terms of which every term will have an art market. Artists were advised to plan thoroughly for these exhibitions and were asked to look at the venue beforehand in order to ensure a smooth setup.
During the meeting, a committee was selected for the Randfontein Art Association. The committee consists of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and three other members.
The committee members for 2015 are Magriet Botha, Handelie Scheepers, Paul Roosenschoon and Desire Marais.
They will then be responsible for assisting with the organisation of events. They must also ensure that all Art Association members receive information, construct databases of all artists in and around Randfontein and market various other projects.
