Parents blown away at Hartzstraat Primary graduation

Little boy with guitar the star of the show.

Parents were expecting a plain and simple graduation ceremony but instead witnessed an explosive show put on by pre-primary pupils of Hartzstraat Primary School on Thursday night.

The evening started with all the pre-primary pupils on stage to present their items. The first item was a song sung by all the pupils. In the front row a little girl found the moment too much for her and started wiping her eyes.

The groups then split up into their respective class numbers and the next item involved props that parents and pupils alike utterly enjoyed. The star of the item was a little boy who walked on stage with a toy guitar and bright clothing and made the audience go wild.

Unexpectedly, it was not yet time for the main event – the graduation. Instead parents were met with a brilliant display of perfectly timed and choreographed ballroom dancing by three couples comprising pre-primary girls dancing with slightly older primary school girls, of which every parent wanted a picture.

Last but certainly not least, the time for the graduation ceremony arrived. Pupils walked from the back of the hall to the front carrying candles in dimmed lighting.

One by one their names were called and they were given a graduation gift. The smiles stretched from ear to eat and they waved enthusiastically to their proud moms and dads in the audience.

Hartzstraat Primary’s 2014 pre-primary school pupils now officially are going to big school next year. Some parents shed a tear or two – tears of joys and possibly tears because big school means buying more expensive stationery and books – as this is a sure sign of their children growing up slowly but surely.
