Big-hearted estate agents reach out to starving pupils

"Some of these children eat their first meal when they are at school"

Randfontein Listing Services (RLS), a group of estate agencies have proven themselves to be big-hearted members of the Randfontein community with their extensive charity work.

The RLS has been doing charity work in aid of starving pupils in Randfontein. They have successfully established feeding schemes within Randfontein primary schools.

“We noticed that there was a need in schools. Thinking about it gives me goosebumps. Some of these children eat their first meal only when they are at school and that is only because of the feeding scheme,” says Laurence von Solms, Chairperson of Randfontein Listing Services.

Earlier this year, members of the RLS also donated blankets and non-perishable foodstuffs to the less fortunate. In addition to this, they have organised an annual golf day in aid of the feeding schemes that they run at schools in Randfontein.

“This year’s golf day gathered R14 000 more than last year. It was by far the greatest success,” von Solms said.

As a result of the earnings from the golf day, the RLS could supply schools in Randfontein with 10 food hampers worth R750 each which brings the entire project to a total of R30 000.

The hampers were handed over to schools in the Randfontein area on Tuesday (25 November). The hampers consisted of basic food supplies as well as your basic household necessities.

The hampers were handed out to Westgold Primary, Laerskool Rapportryer, Laerskool Randfontein and Randfontein Primary School.

“We are proud of involvement in the community,” states von Solms admirably.
