A man was arrested over the weekend for being in possession of mine explosives police said on Tuesday.
According to Warrant Officer Peter Masooa, “A 28-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (15 November) at his home located in Simunye, Westonaria for the possession of mine explosives.
“We think that he might be connected to a larger syndicate with a possibility that he could be connected to ATM bombings in the area as well.”
“We are currently investigating a case of possession of explosives,” Masooa said.
He appeared in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
