Burning car causes traffic delays

A burning car on Randfontein Road (R41) early on Friday caused a 30-minute traffic delay.

Two men had to abandon their morning commute when the vehicle they were travelling in went up in flames.

The men were travelling on Randfontein Road (R41) at around 7am on Friday (14 November) when their Renault Mégane caught fire.

Thandeka Modisa, a Hospital View resident witnessed the whole incident.

“I was talking to my friend when I saw smoke pouring from the cab and the whole front of a passing car. The car then pulled off the road and two men jumped out very quickly,” Modisa said.

According to Modisa, many cars stopped and it did not take long for the police and traffic department to arrive at the scene.

“The Fire Department took 40 minutes to get here. The car already was burnt out when they arrived,” said Modisa.

The burning car caused a 30-minute traffic delay on the road. The exact cause of the fire is unknown.
