Municipality apologizes for five hour power failure

'Isolated problems, storms and trees falling on power lines are the main issues' — municipality

Spokesperson for the Executive Mayor’s office, Lucky Chiya has responded to complaints regarding further power outages, specifically in Greenhills.

According to Chiya he is “unaware of ongoing power outages in the Greenhills area,” but he continues to say, “The issue might be an isolated problem”.

He urges people to inform the municipality of it should they encounter any further problems with electricity cuts.

He says, “There was a destructive electrical storm in Randfontein that affected certain areas, which possibly could be what people are experiencing now if it is not an isolated problem.

“Trees fell on municipal electricity lines, however, technicians are working on the issue and said they’ve restored electricity to affected areas.”
