Power restored – transformer tampered with

'Parties responsible not yet known' - municipality

After more than five hours without electricity, parts of Randfontein have their power restored.

On Thursday the power cut at 10am and was restored before 4pm – this followed a series of surges.

According to Lucky Chiya, Spokesperson for the Executive Mayor of Randfontein, “A transformer on Elizabeth Street was tampered with which lead to the power failure.”

The parties responsible are not yet known by Chiya.

Eskom technicians are in the process of fixing the damage. A full report will be given as soon as the technicians have finished tending to the matter.
