System under extreme pressure next two days — Eskom

“Here's how to trim 10 per cent off your consumption”

Powerhouse Eskom announced that the system will be under extreme pressure on Wednesday, 5 and Thursday 6 November.

According to an official statement released, “This because the water reserves built up over the weekend for our peaking plants will be depleted.

“Eskom is pleased to announce that work at Majuba Power Station has progressed better than anticipated. Teams have worked non-stop since the incident on Saturday and have been able to connect coal feeder units which have enabled us to ramp up the supply from 600MW to 1 200 MW.

“Eskom would like to thank customers who have heeded the call to use electricity sparingly. Once again, we appeal to consumers to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day, but especially from 6pm to 10pm.

“Customers are urged to switch off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances to prevent the need for rotational load shedding.”

Eskom’s load shedding schedules are available for Eskom’s direct customers on their website (https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za/).

Customers can also contact their call centre 0860 037 566 for additional information.

Load shedding schedules will only be utilised for the duration of the constraint and Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system.
