Load shedding schedule for Randfontein arrives

'Randfontein no exception to load shedding, it is beyond our control'

The dreaded load-shedding schedule has reached Randfontein.

Lucky Chiya, spokesperson of Randfontein Executive Mayor says, “Randfontein is no exception to load shedding; it will be affected like the other areas in Gauteng”.

The herald received the schedule from the Randfontein Local Municipality after they had received it directly from Eskom. In response to questions the herald had asked the municipality concerning load shedding, Chiya says, “Unfortunately we are not in a better position to answer your questions as this is beyond our control as a municipal entity”.

The schedule provided is for the period 3 November to 9 November only. The most common times power cuts are expected are between 2pm and 6.30pm for half of the areas and the other half from 6pm to 10.30pm.

According to the schedule, morning power cuts will not be as prominent as evening cuts, allowing people to prepare for work.

“It is our request that we as Randfontein Local Municipality inform the public of what is to be expected. This has nothing to do with the maintenance routines of the municipality,” Chiya states.
