Elderly man’s alleged killers arrested

Police make three arrests in connection with Middelvlei murder.

Randfontein police confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the house robbery and murder of local resident Vincent Parau.

Parau, 63, was shot and killed at his home in Middelvlei when he and his wife, Corrie, came home after a night out with friends on Wednesday 22 October.

Corrie survived the ordeal.

According to Randfontein police spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst “The suspects, aged between 25 and 30 will be appearing in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Monday.”

She added “The arrests were a result of a joint operation between Randfontein detectives, the West Rand Flying Squad and visible policing Randfontein.”

Acting station commander Col Marius Smit congratulated the members on their perserverance throughout the week.

Investigating officer Lt Col Kruger further indicated that the investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
