Mario’s academy to host big end-of-year bash

Mario Gomes Dance Academy will host year-end prizegiving and competition.

The Mario Gomes Hip-Hop Dance Academy will be hosting its year-end prize-giving along with a competition to determine the academy’s best dancer for the year.

The event will be held at Mount Usambara in Krugersdorp on Saturday 22 November, 11am to 7pm and will showcase the most promising talent within the academy. The competition will be divided into different age groups.

Auditions for 2015 will take place on 25, 26, and 27 November. Auditions and transport to the auditions will be free of charge.

The academy also will be giving away 2015 scholarships for 20 underprivileged children. Gomes says one of the dance academy’s goals is to help underprivileged children get off the street and “do something more promising with their lives”.

The dance academy previously has taken two young men off the street and taught them to dance. These two now hold the title of world champions. Proud of this achievement, Gomes says “anything is possible.”

The academy is looking forward to a reality show, which will showcase the entire MGHHDA crew, competitions and training, that soon will be shot and broadcast through a webseries on YouTube by Oliver Pictures.
