Fun Walk to touch children’s lives

Children's Day Fun Walk to give children of Toekomsrus a push in the right direction.

On Saturday 8 November Arrowhead Kingdom Community will be hosting a Children’s Day Fun Walk in Toekomsrus.

Community members and their children will meet at the Toekomsrus Stadium at 8am where children will receive the rules of the fun walk as well as water bottles and identification badges. At 9am the community will take off from Braam Street via Diamond Street to Goud Street.

The aim of the event is to introduce young people in the community to the various alternative careers they can pursue that are relatively inexpensive to follow, such as joining the South African Defense Force (SANDF) as well as other emergency services.

Subsequently the SANDF and various other emergency services will be giving demonstrations to the children.

One of the organisers, Lawrence Fick says, “The SANDF is something children need to learn about as I did when doing my compulsory years in service of the country”.

After the demonstrations, children will have a chance to play novelty games as well as go on various rides that have been categorised by age to ensure the safety of the children.

Through donations from a number of sponsors, a lunch will be served accompanied by entertainment.

Founder and senior Pastor Candace Fick says this is not just an event; it gives those involved an opportunity to “touch the lives of these children”.
