Man beaten to death in Zenzele

'Victim’s body was found lying in street' — police.

A man believed to have been involved in a murder this past weekend appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

A second suspect is still at large.

In the early hours of Sunday morning 26 October a 27-year-old man of the Zenzele informal settlement was found dead in the street.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, “The victim was badly beaten and declared dead by paramedics on scene.

“During the investigation on the scene, the community of Zenzele became unruly and demanded that people they suspect be arrested.

“While awaiting forensic investigators, the community attacked the police vehicle with stones.

“The police vehicle was damaged. They also had to remove people from the scene to prevent the residents taking the law into their own hands.

“No suspects were arrested for the damage to the police vehicle.”

Police later arrested one suspect in the murder case.
