Man sentenced to eight years for fraud

Nyakallo Moloedi, a 28-year-old man was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment for fraud.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, “The case was opened during March this year when the victim realised that his identity number had been stolen and used to open numerous accounts. The suspect also made transactions at a local bank where he used the falsified identity document.

“Proper investigations by Warrant Officer Karlien Coombe resulted in an arrest and ultimately in a good conviction. Vusi Mahlangu prosecuted for the state and the case was well presented in court. Ettienne van Niekerk sentenced Moloedi to eight years’ in prison.

“This sentence should serve as a deterrent to others who engage in this type of criminal activity.”

Warrant Officer Coombe was congratulated on a job well done.
