Elderly couple aged 87 and 98 ties the knot

Gogo Mokoena (87) and her husband David Mthembu (98) say "I do" on Heritage Day.

While South Africans throughout the country celebrated their Heritage Day by braaiing some meat, Gogo Sarah Mokoena, 87, and her new husband David Mthembu, 98 from Mohlakeng tied the knot.

This was at the Mohlakeng Old Age Home where the two exchanged vows and promised to love each other till death parts them.

The event also was attended by Randfontein Local Municipality Executive Mayor Sylvia Thebenare.

According to the organiser of the event, Busi Galane they celebrated the old age home’s 25 anniversary as well.

“Both the events were amazing and I’m glad we celebrated them together. We loved highlighting the home’s 25th year of existence and celebrating the elderly couple’s love as well,” says Galane who adds that the Ayidume Imishini’s bikers club initiated the idea.
