MEC to have talks with informal traders

Forum aimed at harmonising approaches to the informal economy across the province.

The MEC for Economic Development in Gauteng, Lebogang Maile will convene a meeting with municipalities and informal traders associations.

This is to devise a permanent solution regarding matters facing hawkers.

Although the meeting will take place in Johannesburg next to the Carlton Cetre, informal traders in Randfontein and other parts of the West Rand actively have been developing policies that will govern them and protect their rights.

According to a statement received, the forum is aimed at harmonising approaches to the informal economy across the province. The forum will be attended by Economic Development MECs from various municipalities and 37 informal traders organisations.

This meeting will take place on 21 September.
