French mayor honours resident

This after she gave her a T-shirt with Nelson Mandela's face printed on it.

Randfontein resident Caroline Setsiba received a letter from the mayor of Paris.

The mayor of Paris sent Setsiba a token of appreciation in the form of a letter, thanking her for her kind gesture during the Women’s Global Summit in the city.

According to Setsiba, who is the former speaker of the Randfontein Local Municipality and a struggle veteran in 1976, “I gave her a T-shirt with a picture of Nelson Mandela’s face printed on it; turns out that she really loved it.

“The mayor of Paris wrote to me, thanking me for this gift I presented to her during the summit. I did this because she is the first-ever woman to be appointed as the mayor of Paris. This on its own makes history and I’m honoured to have interacted with her.

“More so, I am honoured to have received her letter of gratitude and this humbles me,” says Setsiba who adds that she was at the summit together with other influential people from across the globe.
