ANC councillor’s fraud case postponed

Next court date set for 22 September.

The fraud case against an ANC Councillor from Mogale City has been postponed to 22 September.

The councillor, Walter Plaatjie appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 12 September. He is accused of selling RDP houses in Mogale City as well as in Rietvlei Extension 2 and 3 for more than R20 000.

Previously the herald spoke to a reliable source who said one person bought a house from Plaatjie and later was evicted after the rightful owner approached the Department of Housing and the police to investigate the alleged corruption, which led to Plaatjie’s arrest.

He is currently out on bail.
