Bomb threat at bank

Customers and staff members had to be evacuated, police to investigate further.

On Tuesday police announced that they further will investigate the bomb threat incident that occurred at FNB on Main Road in late August.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Appel Ernst confirmed that the incident took place one Saturday morning but says police never found any explosives.

“Employees at the bank received a call regarding a bomb in the building one Saturday morning. We then responded to the scene and had to evacuate customers and staff quickly from the building in order to investigate together with the K9 Unit.

“No evidence of explosives were found and the bank carried on with their business,” says Ernst.

Meanwhile, the police have opened a case and the matter is under investigation.
