Earthquake felt in Westonaria

Another quake sends the community in a panic.

While some people are said to be recovering from the shock of an earthquake that hit the country on 5 August, it has come to the herald’s attention that another earthquake was felt during the early hours of Friday morning (22 August) in Westonaria.

It’s said that the quake occurred around 1.14am. People on social media tweeted and expressed their fears saying that ‘the earthquake was measured to be that of a 4.6 magnitude’.

Another person with the twitter handle of @ZachARiteSA tweeted: ‘A 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit Westonaria in the early hours of the morning, ‘guys my bed was vibrating, still scared’.

Meanwhile @QuakesToday tweeted: ‘4.6 magnitude #earthquake. 20 km from Westonaria, Gauteng, #SouthAfrica https://earthquaketrack.com/quakes/2014-08-21-23-14-46-utc-4-6-10
