Disadvantaged pupils receive school shoes

Post office gives back to the community.

An act of kindness by a post office brought smiles to more than 25 children of Motlapaneng Primary School in Mohlakeng who received a pair of brand new school shoes earlier today.

According to the school’s principal Mapule Mpotoane “This was made possible through the national Post Office’s initiative of giving back to the different communities in terms of assisting children who are in need.

“Most of our children are from the Zenzele informal settlements and most of their parents are unemployed. Some of them are destitute while some are orphans. We understand their predicament hence we are thrilled by the fact that the post office decided to extend a helping hand towards us.

“Since then, we were able to identify our beneficiaries owing to their circumstances and they will be receiving the pairs of shoes,” says Mpotoane.

Meanwhile, the herald spoke to Klaas Ratsatsi from the Human Capital Management Team at the Post Office’s regional offices in Braamfontein who says that this is an ongoing project for them and adds that it forms part of their community service initiatives in terms of giving back to the community.

“Apart from the fact that we are giving back to the community, what matters most is the fact that we are putting a smile on these children’s faces. So far, we have visited Hoërskool Jan Viljoen and Motlapaneng Primary School and we will be moving to other schools as well,” says Ratsatsi who was accompanied by Wilson Molatudi and Felicia Majenge from the Randfontein Post Office.
