Couples battle it out on the dance floor
Local Rhythm in Us Dance Studio hosts major Latin and ballroom dance festival at Silverstar.
More than 120 passionate dance couples took to the floor at Silverstar Casino recently to battle it out for the prestigious dance festival hosted by local Rhythm in Us Dance Studios.
One of the organisers of the event, Louis de Nobrega says, “The event was a staggering success and gave local dancers the opportunity to compete along side some of the best in the business.
“The festival was organised to expose our dancers to the Latin American and ballroom environment and to judge these dancers we invited renowned celebrity judges such as Tebogo Kgobokoe and Michael Wentink from Strictly Come Dancing,” says De Nobrega.
He adds that Klaus Kongsdal from Denmark, among others was also part of this prestigious panel of judges.
During this exciting dance festival, more than 120 couples as well as 30 single entrants took part. Among these were some of the best in the world, such as World Exhibition champions Craig Smith and his partner Micheline Marmol who showcased their talent.
“Smith and Marmol are the title holders of various international dance titles and it was an honour to have them be part of this event,” says De Nobrega.
“This event surely will stay a highlight for many years to come and we cannot thank each dancer, judge and spectator enough for being part of the success behind this festival.”
He adds that the next big thing for Rhythm in Us Dance Studios will be their annual showcase, which will take place on 10 and 11 October at Maragon Private School in Ruimsig, Roodepoort.
