Hundreds of bikers to attend Charity Run

600 bikers expected to support local charity event for wheelchair-bound ex-biker.

A large contingent of around 600 bikers is expected to pitch for the Rhodies Dayjol and Charity Run to be held at a local pub in the name of wheelchair-bound former biker Shaun Butler.

Butler, 23, a passionate biker was involved in a tragic motorbike accident described by an aunt as a freak accident rather after having slipped on a diesel spill while on his way to drop off Easter eggs at a church in Sedgfield, Knysna during April this year.

Butler had broken his back and was admitted to the intensive care unit in Knysna where he spent at least two weeks. Butler then was transferred to the Aurora Hospital in Port Elizabeth where he spent some time until being discharged a little over three weeks ago.

Now, friends and family will come together for Butler who bears the weight of large medical bills.

Family member and owner of the local pub (7 Kameel Street in Greenhills) where the charity event will be held, Jackie Lensley confirms, “The event will be from 10am until late on Saturday 16 August. It will be in the form of a dayjol.

“We as bikers always stand together and decided to do this for him in order to support him financially. Funds raised will go towards his medical bills.”

Lensley confirmes bikers from Knysna, Marble Hall, Secunda and Evander are expected.
