Alcohol-free party a massive hit

Youth in Randfontein arrived in large numbers to dance to the tunes and support the cause.

Vision 61s first drug free and non-alcoholic party this past Saturday was a massive success.

The party held at the Bethesda Ministry started at around 9am and ended close to midnight.

According to Chantelle Bently from Vision 61, residents of Randfontein both young and old came out in their numbers and showed massive support at the party, which also was aimed at providing a safe alternative to the clubs where the youth often engage with destructive elements.

“The purpose of the event is to create a safe environment where children of the area could party with a purpose without wanting to get high on drugs or without wanting to indulge in alcoholic drinks.

“I’m pleased to say that we achieved our mandate and we had so much fun while doing it,” says Bentely.

“We had a live band performing and residents also were treated to non-alcoholic virgin cocktails. There was a section within the building where children under the age of 18 could sit and play all sorts of games with their toys,” she adds.

Bently she will be hosting more events of the same nature soon.
