Meet Westonaria’s songbird

Westonaria has its very own up-and-coming musician, Zinhle Mbewu with the stage name Destiny.

The 16-year-old is now ready to take the world by storm with her talent and believes she will become a household name soon.

In an interview with the herald, the youngsters expresses her love for music and who the real Zinhle is.

“I’m a young woman with so many dreams, aspirations and love for the music industry. I started singing at the age of four and enjoyed every moment of it. I sang in our church choir and although I knew I was good, I never thought I’d become a recording artist. I have not looked back since,” she says.

Zinhle says she loves house music with a mixture of RnB and a bit of pop.

Although Zinhle plans on studying graphic design when she completes her matric, she says music always will be her first love and says she looks up to international singer Beyonce and local musician Zahara.

The herald spoke to her producer Michale Mathebula, also known as Undoda, who says that Zinhle’s talent was brought to his attention by a woman who went to the same church as her.

“I remember getting a phone call from this woman from my community who told me that she wants me to meet this young woman from her church who sings beautifully. When I met with Zinhle, I asked her to sing for me. I was blown away and needless to say that the rest is history.

“I knew this girl could go places with her talent,” says Mathebula.

He adds that they immediately started working on her album, which is set to be released this August.

According to Zinhle’s manager and owner of Wild West early learning music school, they are looking at securing a few gigs for Zinhle to showcase her talent and says it is only a matter of time before she becomes a household name.

Zinhle says that once famous, she would love to give back to her community by hosting talent searches throughout Westonaria and the entire West Rand to discover hidden talent.
