Madiba Day: Westcol College gives back

Representatives from college hand out clothes and food to the less fortunate.

Westcol College in Randfontein celebrated Mandela Day and gave back to the community of the informal settlements in Brandvlei as part of their 67 minutes towards honouring the late Madiba.

According to campus manager Tony Florita, the purpose of the event was to remember the late father of the nation and celebrate it with less fortunate children as they were close to Madiba’s heart.

“We just wanted to give back to the community of the area and we thought donating clothes and giving out food to those who are less fortunate was the way to this. It’s exactly what Mandela would have wanted us to do and this is how we wanted to celebrate his life and honour him” says Florita who adds that apart from the donations, children were treated to face paintings and music among other fun activities.
