Chiya’s fraud case postponed for the eighth time

Randfontein Magistrates' Court postpones matter until 20 August.

Randfontein Local Municipality’s mayoral spokesperson Lucky Chiya’s court case was postponed for the eighth time this year.

This was announced on Friday (18 July) at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court where Chiya appeared on charges of identity fraud. His case has been postponed until 20 August and according to information received, this is to allow for more investigations.

Chiya stands accused of having used a fraudulent ID to secure credit and was arrested in December last year. At the time of his arrest, Chiya was reported to have been under sequestration.

Meanwhile, the infamous Chiya also was reported to have been arrested for assaulting his wife and was out on R1 000 bail. The charges since have been withdrawn by the state, following a mediation process.
