Madiba Day: Mayor unveils computer lab at local school
Sylvia Thebenare did this with the assistance of SABC 1 actors, musicians and radio personalities.
Randfontein Local Municipality executive mayor Sylvia Thebenare unveiled a computer lab at the Phahama Secondary School today.
This was in commemoration of Mandela Day celebrated today (18 July) and was in the presence of SABC 1 actors, artists and other radio personalities. During this time, Thebenare urged pupils at the school to take advantage of the computer lab and hone their computer skills.
“Education is the biggest weapon for change and it’s very important that we treat it as such. Owing to this, we decided to establish this computer lab with hopes that it will assist most of you to become computer literate.We trust that you will use it profitably and take good care of it,” says Thebenare who adds that pupils must also keep in mind that it is not for them alone but for the future generation that is yet to come as well.
According to her, Phahama Secondary School pupils should be appreciative of the little that is being done for them because it is done with much compassion by the parties involved.
