Absa in Randfontein will re-open in 10 weeks’ time

Absa spokesperson Dante Mashile has confirmed that the branch at the Village Square Mall, which will be closed for refurbishment as of tomorrow (11 July) will re-open only on 24 September.
According to Mashile, the branch in question did notify its clients about this ahead of time but says not enough was done.
“Notices informing clients about the closures were posted around the Randfontein branch from mid-June. SMS notifications also were sent to all Randfontein branch clients in early July, outlining alternatives they can use,” Mashile says.
He explains that to minimise inconvenience to its clients during this time, Absa will deploy a temporary mobile branch with infrastructure at the mall. This is expected to cater to clients’ needs as services that include inquiries, opening accounts and assistance with electronic banking will be provided.
According to him, two cash-accepting ATMs will be placed inside the mall for clients to use.
Mashile adds, “Clients also can use other banking platforms such as mobile, internet banking, the CashSend service and ATMs.”
