ABSA closes shop in Randfontein

Customers will have to make use of other branches from 11 July.

ABSA bank at the Village Square Mall in Randfontein is planning to shut its doors from Friday 11 July till 25 September 2014.

This has angered local residents. According to information received, the banking institution decided to shut down its doors for renovation purposes and has since failed to notify customers in due time.

The Herald has spoken to one of the institutions clients Errens Oosthuizen to find get his take on the institutions decision to do this.

“I don’t mind that they want to shut down their doors for whatever purposes however, my biggest concern is that this will be done without proper notification,” Oosthuizen said.

“As it stands, they decided to put up notices just yesterday (3 July) and I know this because I go there everyday to do our company’s banking,” Oosthuizen added.

Oosthuizen continued “The least they could have done was send emails and notification sms’s to all its clients.”

Asked on whether this was true, ABSA only confirmed the shut down but refused to elaborate any further. Instead they referred the Herald to its head office for comment.
