Motorists to cough up more for fuel

Department urges motorists to catch a lift.

Motorists in Randfontein and Gauteng in general will have to save all the extra change they can as the price of fuel increased as of 2 July.

According to reports, petrol increased by a whopping 31 cents a litre while the price of diesel went up by 14 cents a litre (see detailed list of fuel prices below).

This was announced in a statement released by the Department of Energy, stating that the increase is influenced by the change in the rand/dollar exchange rate as well as the price in crude oil.

What this means is that already cash-strapped motorist will have to dig deeper into their pockets just to get around and will pay R14,33 cents per litre for petrol and R12,90 per litre for diesel.

The Department of Energy urges all motorists to continue implementing fuel-efficiency measures, such as using public transport and utilising lift clubs whenever possible to ensure that they save fuel.
