RPA’s annual winter drive going strong

Local vagrants and other needy people among the society were given food parcels and blankets to keep themselves warm this winter.

The Randfontein Publicity Association handed out food parcels and blankets to local vagrants in Randfontein and its surrounds

This was last week Wednesday and Thursday (18 and 19 June) and formed part of their annual winter charity drive.

According to RPA’s managing Director Marcelle Mans, the purpose of the drive is to help the needy get through the freezing winter days.

“While most of us go to bed warm and on full stomachs, it is worth noting that there are people out there who are without food let alone a place to call home.

“This does not sit well with us and we have the duty to give back to the community and that is why we decided to intervene and do something about this.

“We then appealed to RPA members and the public for donations of blankets, canned food, scarves, beanies and bed socks for the charity drive and they came out in their numbers to help out.

“This proved to us once again that the wonderful people of Randfontein are kind at heart and are always willing to help,” says Mans who adds that their charity drive started in May and will run till 30 June.

By then, she hopes that they would have made a huge difference in people’s lives throughout Randfontein.
