Randfontein primary hosts its own World cup tournament

The school played against numerous other teams and represented Uruguay.

While Soccer World Cup fever rages throughout the world, Randfontein Primary School was the envy of many schools after it held a mini “World cup” at their own sports grounds recently.

The day was held in conjunction with the Gauteng West School Sports Association.

According to Randfontein Principal Greg Botard, each school represented a national team.

“We had various schools within the Gauteng district compete for the title and it went well.

“Each team consisted of 10 players made up of six boys and four girls.

“Although we did not win, we certainly did have fun” says Boatard who boasts that his school was representing Uruguay.
