Department of Education hosts intervention programme

The Gauteng Department of Education recently launched a secondary school intervention programme with the aim to help struggling matriculants.

The Gauteng Department of Education recently launched a secondary school intervention programme that will give struggling matriculants the opportunity to attend extra classes.

According to the Department of Education, Gauteng West District Unit Head, Marlon Bhana, this initiative already started in March this year and will continue until October.

“Our goal with this project is solely to help struggling matriculants pass their exams.

“That is why we will host extra classes at various schools in the Randfontein area every Saturday as well as on 30 June and 4 July,” says Bhana.

The participating schools include Phahama Secondary, Kgothalang Secondary, TM Letlhake Secondary and Randfontein Secondary.

Bhana adds that all the subjects, such as Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Geography, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences will be covered at each of the schools at every meeting.
